Services

What I can do for you

From a full exterior repaint to the small job that has been waiting for months.

Exterior painting

Façades, walls, window frames, shutters and doors — with the products and preparation that stand up to the sun, salt and downpours here.

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, doors and staircases. Cleanly finished, properly masked and left tidy.

Woodwork and rot repair

Damaged wood is repaired or replaced first. Paint over rotten wood is money thrown away.

Sealing and joints

Re-sealing joints, seams and frames so moisture stays on the outside where it belongs.

Small maintenance

The small repairs and odd jobs in and around the house — including the ones that have nothing to do with paint.

Scheduled maintenance

Regular upkeep for rental and holiday properties. It can be arranged even when you are not on the island yourself.

Colour advice

Help choosing colour and sheen, matched to the strong light here and to your house.

Not seeing your job listed? Just ask — chances are it is perfectly possible.

Why Curaworks

Painting on a tropical island is its own trade

What lasts ten years in Europe can be finished here in three. That is rarely the paint itself, and almost always the decisions made before it went on.

The climate decides the method

Full sun, salt in the air and heavy rain in the wet season. That calls for different products, different systems and different timing than in a temperate climate.

Preparation is the job

Cleaning, degreasing, sanding, repairing and priming. That is most of the work, and it is exactly the part that decides how long the result lasts.

Dutch training, local practice

A Dutch trade education as the foundation, 10 years in Curaçao as the practice. That combination is rarer here than you might expect.

An agreement is an agreement

You know the price and the timing up front. If something runs differently than planned, you hear it from me rather than discovering it yourself.

How it works

From first message to finished job

No complicated process. Four steps, and you always know where you stand.

  1. 1

    Get in touch

Call or send a WhatsApp message. Attaching a photo of the job helps enormously — then I know straight away what we are talking about.

  2. 2

    Visit and quote

I come by, look at the work and measure up. You then get a clear quote setting out exactly what happens and what it costs. No obligation.

  3. 3

    The work

On the agreed day, with proper preparation and everything masked off. At the end of every working day it is left tidy.

  4. 4

    Handover

We walk through the work together. Anything that can be better gets put right. Only then is the job finished.

About Fred

The painter behind Curaworks

I am Fred Verbeek. I trained as a painter in the Netherlands and have now been working as a painter in Curaçao for 10 years.

In those years I have learned what this climate does to a building. The sun sits straight on the façade, there is salt in the air, and in the wet season the rain comes down hard. Paint that performs perfectly in Europe does not always survive that. The right preparation and the right system are the difference between three years and ten.

I work primarily with Sherwin-Williams products because they hold up well here. If you prefer another brand, or the paint is already sitting in your garage, I am happy to work with that instead.

What I care about is not complicated: keep to agreements, work cleanly, and only call a job finished when it actually is.

Fred Verbeek — Curaworks

Paint is not a detail here

On a façade that stands in full sun all day, the quality of the paint decides how long you enjoy the result. That is why I work primarily with Sherwin-Williams products. But it remains your house: if you want a different brand, or the paint is already bought, I will work with that just as happily.

Curaworks is an independent painting business and is not a dealer for, or affiliated with, Sherwin-Williams.

Frequently asked

Worth knowing

WhatsApp
What does a quote cost?

Nothing. I come by, look at the job and send you a quote afterwards. You are not committed to anything.

Can I send photos first instead of arranging a visit?

Please do. Send them over WhatsApp or through the form below. That often lets me give a good indication before I come by at all.

How soon can you start?

That depends on the size of the job and on the schedule at the time. Call or message and you will hear straight away what is possible.

Do you work on rental and holiday properties?

Yes. Regular upkeep of rental and holiday properties is a large part of the work, and it can be arranged even when you are not on the island yourself.

Why does paint last less long here than in Europe?

Because of the combination of intense UV, salt in the air and heavy rain. Those three together put a façade under far more strain. With the right preparation and the right paint system there is a great deal that can be done about it.

Do I have to buy the paint myself?

No — I supply the materials and include them in the quote. If you would rather supply the paint yourself, or you have a preferred brand, that is equally fine.

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. A door that sticks, a ceiling that needs freshening up, woodwork that wants attention — it does not have to be a big project.

Which languages can I use to get in touch?

Dutch and English.
